The Benicia City Council took its first steps to combat climate change by authorizing the City to conduct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories, set reduction targets, develop a Climate Action Plan (CAP), implement the plan, and measure and verify results.
Benicia completed its CAP and the City Council adopted the plan on September 15, 2009. This made the CIty the first in Solano County to adopt a CAP.
Since then, the City has implemented a number of CAP strategies focused on reducing GHG emissions community-wide.
May 2014 - City Council accepted the 2010 GHG Inventory Update Report
December 2015 - 2013 GHG Inventory (in process)
