Business Resource Incentive Program

The City of Benicia provides a comprehensive set of tools for business owners to reduce costs and implement sustainability initiatives.  The program provides full sustainability evaluations for businesses, looking beyond energy efficiency to all areas of sustainability providing a report back to the company of actions they can take to implement sustainable management practices that result in greenhouse gas reductions. Marin Clean Energy (MCE)

On November 18, 2014, the Benicia City Council unanimously voted (4-0) to join Marin Clean Energy (MCE), a community choice aggregation program that offers 51% and 100% renewable electricity to its customers. MCE is an opt out program.  If you want to stay with PG&E, you can by opting out of MCE (see below). 

Key information:
 
1. The official opt-out process ran from February 2015 - July 2015.
2. Opting out is FREE until 60 days after service begins on your meter read date (varies by customer), if businesses opt out after then, it is a one-time $5 fee (residential) and $25 (commercial/industrial) to cover MCE's administrative costs associated with opting out the account.

PACE PROGRAMS - HERO & California FIRST

The City has joined 5 Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing districts that enables private commercial and industrial property owners to install clean energy and water conservation upgrades by financing the upfront capital through a property tax assessment.  
 
 
 
 

Energy Savers Program

The Energy Alliance Association's (TEAA) commercial energy conservation program, the Energy Savers Program (ESP), brings energy efficiency solutions to California's small businesses with the support of trade associations, utilities and regulatory agencies. The program is managed by licensed professional engineers and energy efficiency experts. 

Small Business Association - Environmental Grants, Loans and Incentives

The US Small Business Association (SBA) provides various programs dedicated to helping help businesses pay for energy efficient upgrades to their facilities, environment-related projects and improvements. These programs include financial incentives such as tax credits, tax deductions, sales tax exemptions, property tax exemptions and rebates.
